Fundamalleus

A bunch of nerds playing games in my basement.

Overview

We mostly play Warhammer 40,000. The group name is corrupted latin, in the best 40k tradition. Fundamentum (basement) + Malleus (hammer) = Fundamalleus (BasementHammer).

We have a logo, and enough pictures of tiny plastic men to put together a decent website, which I should probably do. A few of us play competitively, so you will see us listed in tournament results.

We also meet every 6 months for massive, 2 day apocalypse games, with custom missions I design with the group's input. I also contribute to the Apocalypse Datafiles for Battlescribe, mostly to fix data bugs that annoy my friends.

Core Problems

• My friends weren't playing enough Warhammer
• My basement was too clean
• Magic: The Gathering's barrier to entry was too reasonable

Lessons Learned

• Designing missions and objectives in an existing game system is fun and challenging
• Arranging events for 16+ people is fun and challenging

• Make the group's mission packs publicly accessible
